Message From The CEO
Dear Friends of LM,
Welcome to our website. I am very proud to report on the organization's successes this year. Our updated website is one of those. We hope that you will take a tour and witness the incredible progress towards many of our goals. These include the establishment of new clinic sites during this past year, the start of the Senior Medicine Program, the implementation of Telemedicine, the Food Pantry and many more greatly needed services.
"Now for update on our new building"…….
Our Capital Campaign officially kicked off in March 2006 and our committees have made significant advances towards our goal of 10 million dollars. To date we have raised donations, pledges, contributions, grants, towards this exciting project. On November 3rd LM is spearheading a green initiative by hosting an orientation on the importance of building "green". We believe that health and well being are greatly enhanced if offered in a green environment. In the interest of our future, as a society, we must be environmentally conscious and responsible. La Maestra's new building will be LEED certified through the US Green Building Council. We are incorporating this essential component in the sustainable design of the building. Richard Yen & Associates, the architects on this project, have successfully designed other green certified buildings.
"Another fascinating component of this project"…… The Capital Campaign Team has recently formed an Arts and Culture Committee to study and incorporate designs, artwork, symbols from the diverse cultures served through LM. The goal is to reflect the rich cultural artistry from our populations throughout the new building. After all, LM is the medical home and center for City Heights' myriad of cultures and the new building will clearly incorporate this asset.
"What's next?"………….. The big groundbreaking ceremony scheduled for spring of 2007. We will be posting the date as soon as it is available. The architects are in the Design and Development phase with the drawings so as soon as we get clearance, we will be ready. We invite you in advance to plan on being with us to celebrate this big step in the history of La Maestra and of City Heights.
Warmly,
Zara Marselian

Heart Of The Community Campaign
La Maestra’s Board of Directors and the residents of City Heights are preparing for a new phase of expansion to construct a 32,000 square foot health care facility in the heart of the City Heights. To accomplish this, they have launched the “La Maestra Heart of the Community Campaign” that will bring together volunteers, residents, business leaders and representatives from public and private funding organizations to raise $10 million to construct the new facility. As a result, the Campaign will make it possible to achieve a healthier community for the residents of City Heights by doing the following:
CONSTRUCT A “GREEN” LA MAESTRA COMMUNITY HEALTH CENTER – a 32,000 square foot facility that will be the “hub” for a new standard of healthcare and well-being for the residents of City Heights
EXPAND HEALTHCARE programs and services that will more than double the number of residents accessing health care in City Heights
EXPAND WELL-BEING programs and services that will help residents achieve self-sufficiency in City Heights
ESTABLISH LA MAESTRA'S CIRCLE OF CARE ENDOWMENT to ensure long-term, sustained support for health and well-being in City Heights
