Service Provider Spotlight - La Maestra
La Maestra’s Human Trafficking Program was created in 2011 and has helped 120 clients from over 20 different countries. They help victims of both labor and sex trafficking. They also welcome clients from the LGBTQ community. The services they provide include financial assistance to international human trafficking victims (rent, bus pass, cell phone, basic needs etc.), immigration services, shelter placement, victim compensation application assistance, confidential address application assistance, therapy and counseling, family law advocacy/referrals, micro-credit education, art and skill classes, and public benefit enrollment assistance.
Looking to get involved? La Maestra is looking for free or low-cost services to victims of crime, especially attorneys in immigration or family law. They also appreciate donations for their clients and are always looking for opportunities for their clients to volunteer or work. Email Carmen and Karly for more details about how to get involved
